What is Vedic Astrology?
Vedic Astrology is the ancient astrological tradition of Indian culture. Known as the “eye of the Veda”, Vedic astrology is considered one of the six traditional Vedic sciences. Astrology arose as a development of indigenous divination practices. While divinatory practices drew on a worldview of magical correspondences and folk healing, astrology developed on the observable basis of astronomy. By calculating the precise position of the planets, ancient astronomers gave us the foundation of astrological knowledge.
Astrology maps the positions of the planets along the ecliptic, defined as the apparent path of the Sun around the Earth. Astrology refers to the ecliptic as the zodiac and divides the circle into twelve signs. These signs are associated with a complex spectrum of signs and symbols from the natural world and the mythology of Indian culture. Vedic astrology is thus a zodiacal system that examines planetary and constellational positions in the context of natal charts, yearly charts, and sixteen divisional charts.
What is Human Design?
Human Design is a new astrological system that synthesizes zodiacal astrology with the Yijing. The founder of the system, Ra Uru Hu, considers Human Design a revelatory system that was given to him by “the Voice”. Whether we accept this or not, the system has certainly impressed me with its accuracy and descriptiveness. I see Human Design as an essential complement to astrology, providing an original perspective of the constitutional blueprint and its dynamic differentiation.
My Style
The practice of Vedic astrology and Human Design takes the form of “readings”, where a chart is read to an inquiring client. In both cases, initial readings begin with a Natal Reading, where the birth chart (or bodygraph) is comprehensively analyzed for the client, and which becomes a foundation for future readings (yearly, compatibility, etc.). My style of reading is educational, accessible, and given thoroughly in the moment. I read for the unique person seeking the reading and speak to their present needs, rather than delivering a technical tour de force. I see astrology and human design readings as an opportunity for self-understanding and self-recognition, rather than a search for predictable knowledge.
Neeshee Pandit is a Vedic astrologer and Human Design analyst. He has been practicing Vedic astrology since 2015 and was mentored by Ernst Wilhelm. In addition to Vedic astrology, Neeshee is versed in Tibetan and Chinese astrological systems, Ernst Wilhelm’s Cards of Truth system, and the divinatory system of the Yijing.

“The unconscious is structured like a language”, says the Parisian psychoanalyst, Jacques Lacan. If we accept this poignant observation, then we are confronted by the fact that the unconscious is not merely a latent structure but a spoken event. The talking cure situates the revelation of the unconscious as a spoken phenomenon. If the unconscious is structured like a language, then language signifies the unconscious. Therefore, astrology is a language of an unconscious that is structured like a language.
In his essay on the mirror stage, Lacan describes the recognition of one’s reflection in a mirror as a construction of identity. In astrology, we speak a language of relatedness in which we recognize ourselves. Planets, signs, and houses function as a chain of signifiers which are repressed in the unconscious. By speaking their names aloud to be heard, the repressed is returned to the subject.
Therefore, astrology is a talking cure, an ancient form of analysis that voices the real through a symbolic order. A reading is a rendering, a palindromic reversal, a fragment of the real. The word “read” comes from the German raten, meaning “advise” and “interpret (a riddle or dream)”. Therefore, an astrology reading is a form of advice, a response to an inquiry, as well as an interpretation of dreams. Astrology is not ego-psychology. Astrology is a crisis of desire that disrupts imaginary identifications and draws the eye and ear to its mirror in the real.

A relationship compatibility reading using several astrological systems for a complete portrait, including Vedic astrology, Chinese / Tibetan astrology, Cards of Truth, and Human Design. When two people come together, they form an energetic circuit in which life-energy is shared. Compatibility is the study of how life-energy flows between two people. If there is a harmonious flow between two people, then a relationship is considered compatible. I also consider factors such as life path, the shared purpose and intention of the relationship, and the play of masculine / feminine energies (which are not restricted to gender, sexual orientation, or conventional definitions of marriage).

A reading of the individual year spread from the perspective of the Cards of Truth system. The solar return (or birthday) represents a new cycle of our personal life-force. As the 52 cards represent a solar calendar, this system provides a uniquely detailed view of the individual solar year. The year spread is comprised of seven 52-day periods, each period ruled by one of the seven planets (Sun - Saturn). The year spread also incorporates planetary transits for a complete astrological portrait of the year's unfolding influences.

The right context for an astrological reading is the psychic flow between the astrologer and the client. The astrologer is a conduit, or channel, for planetary energies. During a reading, the astrologer conducts the planetary energy of a client’s birth chart and transmits it to them, verbally and thereby energetically.
Speech is the articulation of consciousness. In the Buddhist trichotomy of “body, speech, mind”, it is “speech” which represents the energy dimension. Thus, the astrologer’s words are resonant with the quality and energy of the planet being spoken about, and this resonance is naturally extended to the client. This process instantly balances the planetary energy for the client, because when we are conscious of an energy, it naturally begins to flow again. This is why people feel relieved during and after readings—they feel the direct transmission of planetary energetic balance. They feel a resonance with their own natal pattern, their constitutional design. When we live in harmony with our own nature, our life-force remains centered, flowing, and strong.
Astrology readings are not properly understood if they are only conceived as objective events, or opportunities to receive information. The right way to participate in an astrology reading is to be open to the energy of the astrologer, and thereby, to the energy of the planets. We receive in accordance with our openness and capacity. Those who are more receptive will feel more enriched by a reading than those who come with closed energy, merely looking for information to fill the head.
Every reading is different because every person is different. The astrologer naturally gives the reading that is most appropriate for the person, because it is only in the psychic flow between astrologer and client that anything relevant can occur. The client must approach the astrologer with a need, because need is the basis for psychic flow. Without need, there is nothing to which energy can respond. Thus, it is vitally important for the client to “put everything on the table”, to bring a consideration, a question, a concern, or a curiosity.
Therefore, an astrological reading is rightly understood as a potentially therapeutic and healing event, a re-balancing of deep energetic patterns at the natal level. In this sense, readings are not any different from classical acupuncture treatments. The astrologer takes the pulse of the planets, and then re-balances the planetary energy within the client using the “needles” of speech, focusing the qi (planets) in the right meridians (signs). When the astrologer asks, “does that make sense?” or “does that resonate with you?”, it is the same as the acupuncturist turning the needle, waiting for the qi to arrive. When the astrologer sees and feels the evidence of resonance, the task is complete. Beyond remediation, an astrologer can perceive the causative factor, the natal disturbance in the cycle of energy, and focus directly upon that. This is when the astrologer has reached the core of the person, the true reason for reading. When this is touched, a shift occurs in the consciousness of the client that will continue to unfold.
In this way, we can begin to understand and re-establish astrology within a therapeutic context and as part and parcel of the healing arts since antiquity.

Human Design allows you to see the uniqueness of your personality and design, and how to live in your true self. In the natal reading, we comprehensively explore your Human Design bodygraph.
You will learn about your type, strategy, authority, profile, incarnation cross, defined/undefined centers, and the defined channels in your bodygraph. We will also consider important variables (such as environment) as indicated.

Human Design describes compatibility as a “connection theme”. This approach moves beyond notions of being compatible/incompatible with someone by showing you the unique nature of your connection. Connection Themes are analyzed by overlaying two natal charts and examining one of four themes based on the number of defined centers the connection creates (9-0, 8-1, 7-3, 6-4). We will examine these themes in detail based on the four type of channel connections (electromagnetic, companionship, compromise, and dominance) to form a complete view of your unique connection with someone. We will also explore the unique connections between types and profiles.
Connection themes are not only relevant for romantic relationships but apply to all our interpersonal relationships, including friends, family, co-workers, etc.

My approach to locational astrology is a synthesis of astro-cartography and the nodal environment in Human Design. There are natal chart readings, and then there is what Neeshee provides. There was an ease to the way Neeshee read and accessed my chart, addressing my concerns for myself, my life and my partner.
